Can you print white on kraft hang tags?

Yes. White ink is the most reliable way to get a crisp light mark on brown board, and it is the usual choice for logos that need to stand out against the kraft color.

What sizes and shapes can I order?

Kraft tags are made to your measurements. Rectangle, square and round are our standard shapes, and anything else is produced as a custom die-cut from your outline. Folded formats are also available if you need more space for care or sizing information.

What string options come with kraft hang tags?

Cotton, jute, elastic and ribbon. Jute and cotton are the most popular with kraft because they match the natural look. Strings are fitted before despatch so the tags arrive ready to attach. You can also order tags with a punched hole, a reinforced eyelet, or no hole at all.

Kraft is not a white surface, and that single fact drives most of the decisions on this page. Ink sits on brown differently. Some colors print cleanly on it and some do not, so it is worth knowing which before you send artwork.

How ink behaves on brown stock

Dark colors print cleanly. Black, navy, deep green and burgundy need no special treatment. They sit on kraft the way they would on white.
Pale and pastel colors shift warmer. The brown underneath shows through, so a soft pink reads peach and a pale blue reads grey-green.
White does not print without help. It needs a white underbase laid down first, which we can do. Otherwise white simply disappears into the stock.

When a white underbase is worth it

Brand colors that must match. If your artwork carries a Pantone reference that has to be accurate, an underbase keeps it accurate.
Photographs and gradients. Both need a white base or they go muddy.
When it is not worth it. A single-color logo in black or a dark brand color prints beautifully straight onto kraft, and the raw stock showing through is usually the point.

Recycled and unbleached options

Recycled kraft. Unbleached board with a visible fiber texture and a natural brown color that varies slightly batch to batch. That variation is part of the look.
Why brands choose it. It signals natural and small-batch without anything being printed to say so, which is why food, candle and skincare brands tend to pick it over laminated white.

Strings that suit kraft

Cotton twine and jute. Both match the stock. Jute reads coarser and more rustic; cotton is neater.
Avoid high-gloss ribbon. It fights the matte, fibrous surface rather than complementing it.

What is kraft paper and how is it different from normal hang tag stock?

Kraft is an uncoated board with a natural brown color and a visible fiber texture. Standard tag stock is usually bleached white and often coated, which gives a smoother, glossier surface. Because kraft is left uncoated it feels more tactile, takes pen and stamp ink well, and gives packaging a more natural, handmade look.
